Come and visit any time to see what's happening in math class. I will be posting homework assignments and projects as they are assigned, as well as providing notification when a test or quiz will happen. On the right side you will find a list of links to helpful websites. The list will grow as we move our way through the 6th grade concepts. If you have any other ideas on how I can use this site to help students, please let me know. I'm looking forward to a wonderful year!!

10/7 Diagnostic Vocab Test

Today we took a diagnostic Vocabulary test, which will not affect the students' grades. We'll take the same test at the end of the year.

Homework: Study for the test/quiz we will be having on Wednesday.

I gave the students a packet today to help them study for the test. I will not be checking to see if it is completed, but we will go over the answers on Tuesday, and I will answer any questions.

October 5 and 6

Wednesday: All classes went over understanding rate of change and identifying graphs representing a constant rate of change. We also took a look at circle graphs and discussed and practiced finding a missing percent. B, C, and E also watched a video on bar graphs, histograms and stem and leaf plots. F-block worked on more 'mean' mean questions.
Homework:
B,C,E: Ws. p. 20
F: Circles (and mean questions if not finished)

Tuesday: Line graphs and 'mean' mean questions today.

10/1 Stem and leaf...

Today we took some time to graph the results of our timed multiplication and division test. This was a great preview for line graphs and scatterplots, which we will study next week. We also finished up our airplane toss activity, and the students will be completing the assignment at home this weekend.

Please sign up to be a member of our 6 Blue website.
I will soon be switching to that website to communicate the activities of our math class. The link is at the top of our 'helpful websites' section under Your Math Teacher on this blog.
We are really enjoying putting the new website together and hope it will help all of us communicate more effectively!

Homework:
All classes: finish stem and leaf plot and questions 1-3 on the back (F block should try # 4 too)

9/30 Airplane toss and bar graphs

E, B, C blocks flew their paper airplanes and measured the distance in meters. They recorded the class measurements on a handout. Tomorrow we will create stem and leaf plots from the data.

F block reviewed bar graphs, and completed their plane toss recording sheet. We will create stem and leaf plots from the data tomorrow.

Be sure to have parents or guardians fill out the form to become a member of our new 6 Blue website! Very exciting!!

Homework:
B, C, E - Ws. pg. 177-178. (Do both sides)

F - Ws. pg. 20 (EM study link)
